The search is widening tonight for a 22-year-old man who has gone missing from his narrowboat moored in a marina in North West Leicestershire.
Throughout the day underwater police divers have been searching the water in the area around a red narrowboat where Josh Cotton lives.
Searches are now being extended elsewhere at the Sawley Marina near Long Eaton to include other stretches of water and land.
It is believed that Josh was last seen by a fellow boat owner at around 4pm on Friday, but has not been heard from since.
Throughout today, the fifth day since Josh disappeared, police divers searched the water around and underneath Josh’s boat, whilst other officers from Leicestershire Police spent the day talking to fellow boat owners and marina users, handing out appeal leaflets in a bid to trace him.
Sgt James Cross, from Leicestershire’s Missing Person Team, has renewed public appeals tonight for help as the search continues for Josh.
The longer Josh remains missing, our concerns grow for his safety, not least because his mobile phone, from which his family say he is inseparable, has been found on his boat.
Police have received numerous calls from members of the public offering information and possible sighting of Josh and these are being actively investigated this evening. We are really grateful for this help, but still need to hear from anyone who may know where Josh is now.
When he was last seen, Josh was wearing black jogging bottoms, dark grey high-top trainers and a short brown hooded coat with fur along all of the external seams and above the pockets.
Anyone who knows where Josh is, or who sees him, is asked to contact Police on 101.
