The Parish Council would like to advise that RCC is aware of the problem we have in wet weather with our verges. Without urbanisation, such as kerbstones, verges can be churned up by vehicles using them on some of our more narrow roads. While there is every sympathy it is simply not possible for them to send out cleaning lorries daily to cope with the mud that is spread on the roads.
The verges will quite naturally recover once the weather changes and meanwhile care is urged when walking to avoid sliding on surface mud.
It is also apparent in some areas of the village that stone boulders are being placed both on the edge of the verge and indeed, into the highway. Highways at RCC will remove them as they are not legal and could cause considerable damage to vehicles of all types including family cars. If you wish to keep your stones it is recommended you place them somewhere other than the verges to ensure they are not removed.
