Well, we’ve seen a number of events happening around and about! Starting with Rockingham International Horse trials which sadly we were unable to go to. We did however, manage to get to Burghley House Country Game show yesterday, a great day out for all of the family, with lots to see and do. Considered biking there but sadly, the weather was against me! I was particularly in awe of the horse skateboarding and the pony club games, some amazing and talented riding. Followed by food demonstrations, lots of different animals and events that kept us amused all day. Dogs are very welcome which was great socialising for our two and all the sniffs and sites wore them out for the evening. For those who are stuck for something to do today, there is still chance, it’s open again Bank Holiday Monday from 10am, here’s the link to Burghley Game & Country show
Next weekend we see the Rutland County show which should be just as good, it’s open on Sunday the 31st May, have a look to see the schedule for the day following the link Rutland County Show.
I’ve discovered another lovely circular walk in the area that can be done on horse back or just a stroll with the dogs, I’ve been lucky to do both. Start at Loddington and head through the water with the church on the right hand side. Just keep walking, you’ll eventually come to a demolished barn and a couple of brooks for the dogs to have some great fun in, just keep going towards East Norton and eventually you’ll come to the road between East Norton and Loddington, between you can take a little detour in to the woodland area. On the way back by road, you can take a short detour up on to the old railway line, where I understand is great for berry picking at the right time of year! Eventually, you come back down the hill towards the church, you get a great view as you’re heading down the hill toward the church which is well worth a visit and a look around. Its great for dogs to run off, with no livestock and plenty of water to play in!
Enjoy your bank holiday!
