The inflatable Aqua Park and the beach at Rutland Water will be closed this weekend as a precautionary measure after increased levels of blue-green algae were detected. However, there is still lots do at Rutland Water for all the family.
Routine test results have shown increased levels of blue-green algae in parts of the reservoir and we have made the difficult decision to restrict some activities this weekend. The Aqua Park Rutland and the beach will be closed until water quality test results return to normal, and stand up paddleboarding is currently restricted.
However kayaking, sailing and angling is going ahead as normal, you can hire rowing boats and pedalos, take a cruise on the Rutland Belle, and of course there are the many miles of beautiful cycle and walking tracks to explore, the birdwatching centre is open, as are the cafes, Bugtopia zoo, playgrounds and our brand new mini-golf course next to the Sykes Lane visitors centre.
The restrictions are a precaution. The health and safety of visitors is our number one priority. If you have booked at the aqua park this weekend then you will receive a refund directly into your bank account. You will also receive a free credit for a future booking via email.
Please remember that dogs are not allowed in the water at the reservoir at any time of the year. Blue-green algae can be toxic to dogs, so please take responsibility for their safety.
