Crimes for Rutland South – August 2017
4th Burglary dwelling – Belton-in-Rutland – Between 11:00 – 22:00 victim is out of the house & unknown person(s) has forced entry by smashing the double glazed window in a rear ground floor kitchen window. Entry gained untidy search, exit via rear patio doors.
7th -9th Burglary dwelling – Manton – Semi-detached bungalow in quiet residential area, broken into while residents are on holiday. Entry and exit via a rear window being smashed and forced open. All rooms searched and items were taken.
9th Burglary Dwelling – 10:40 -17:30 – Tinwell – *Car Key Break* – During material times entry gained by smashing glass in rear UPVC patio doors. A selective search of the kitchen and car key along with car on the drive taken. Exit as entry. Car recovered and person(s) are helping with enquires.
10th Main Street Riddlington – attempted burglary – evidenced by damage to padlock and timber door frame.
11th – 13th Attempt Burglary – shop – Barrowden – Attempt to gain entry into the community shop. Damage caused to the lock in the process, but no entry gained, this is the third instance since November.
12th – 13th – Burglary Non-dwelling – Seaton – Between 17:30 – 12:30 Entry gained to Pub that is being refurbished and drill stolen.
30th – 14th – Burglary dwelling – Lyddington *Car Key Break* Occupants have been on holiday for 2wks, on their return home they find rear ground floor window smashed and entry gained, all rooms searched. Appears only house keys/car keys and car from drive way have been stolen.
14th Reservoir Empingham – 11:45 – 12:45 Victim parks her vehicle in the car park of the nature reserve and on her return 1 hour later finds windscreen has been smashed – nothing stolen.
14th-18th – Caldecott – Live stock trailer was stolen from a farm.
23rd – Aldgate Ketton – 17:30-17:50 – Owner parks up her vehicle for 20 minutes and on her return finds the rear window smashed and property was stolen. Some property is later found/recovered by the Collyweston bridle path.
21st -24th – High Street Ketton – Burglary to annex room at the rear of owners garage. Entry to the annex is through a side door in the garage which victim believes was left insecure – there is no sign of forced entry – items taken.
30th –- Empingham – 21:25 -Disturbed Burglary other than dwelling at an isolated farm in rural location. At the time two people are disturbed within the tractor shed of the farm and seen to run off around the back of the farm into fields. Suspects are then seen to get into a van parked on the main road up from the farm and drive off at speed.
Current local priorities:
The issues identified include Hare coursing, criminal damage to land and crops, and theft. This is an issue for the rural community and we will look to conduct regular targeted patrols and joint cross border work with Lincolnshire police around this issue and through Op Galileo.
