Latest News Scams – Callers claim to be from the Council or a company called NRG and are in the area checking on the serviceability of double glazing. It is advised not to book an appointment and not to disclose any of your personal or other details. One resident was recently asked if she lived alone! They are not from the Council and it will probably end up as a hard sell.
Caller claimed to be from the Police and said he wanted to prevent fraud. He then asked for money to be transferred to his account. In this case the aggrieved lost a very considerable amount of money. Most of us are aware of how to deal with these individuals but a few of our more elderly residents are not. Please pass these scams on, especially if you know someone who may be vulnerable. Remember….. It doesn’t take much time to be a good neighbour – just to check someone is not only safe but warm and well too.
