Oakham & Barleythorpe – We have been really busy in Oakham and Barleythorpe over this last month. Ad Hoc road safety work, an interview with local media and of course the issue on Barleythorpe Road, Oakham which I tried to sort out whilst on holiday. I was saddened to actually be on the road when so many local residents thought the restrictions didn’t apply to them but the road is now fully open (phew). I would urge people to check their lights as we have stopped numerous vehicles with defective lights in the last month.
Rutland North – We have worked hard this month to conduct targeted patrols on the North beat and has reflected the low amount of reports of Hare coursing we have had this month. We have only had 3 reports this month and have identified 1 vehicle believed to be involved in coursing. We will continue to work with local residents and farmers to tackle this ongoing issue and respond to any call made.
Rutland South – Last month saw 13 reports of hare coursing reported to Rutland Police in the areas along the A47 corridor from Tixover to Uppingham, Market Overton, Langham, Riddlington, and Ketton. Several persons and vehicles were identified as being suspected in taking part in this illegal activity.
Uppingham – We are continuing with our high visibility patrols around the skate park and continue to engage with youths to high-light the issues, also letting them know we are monitoring the CCTV. We are building a good rapport with those who want to keep the skate park looking good and encouraging them to report any damage or anti-social behaviour. We have taken one report this month of damage to the bike sheds that we are looking into and dealt with some youths who have been using the park late at night to drink.
