A recent financial times view of the likely difficulties https://www.ft.com/content/7b6bb903-7688-4520-84f5-9845b0f6bd50
There are many sailors in this village and we now only too well about waste because we have to carry any from one location to the next on a vessel with very limited space. So shopping in any port is careful and with a view to ‘how are going to deal with any waste’.
We all need to reduce waste now. Compost whatever you can. Crush cans to reduce space. If you have plastic bottles cut them up as the air inside takes up a lot of space. If you can’t cut then crush them and put the lid back on to prevent air re-entering.
If you are unlikely to eat it, don’t buy it! Take fabric bags with you, take tubs or glass jars to buy as much as you can loose – there’s a chap in Uppingham market who only sells loose products.
There will be many more ideas coming through.
