A couple of bits of village news the first of which is that there is a potential hazard at the junction of Back Lane and Loddington Lane please be careful. It has been reported to us as follows by one of your Councillors: an old fire hydrant located on the grass verge at the junction of Loddington Lane and Back Lane has collapsed leaving an open hole about one foot deep. I have had a look at it and the frame holding the cast iron cover is broken, probably by the Council lawn mower driving over it. I have put a cone next to it to warn people as it could be a leg breaker. I have reported it to Severn Trent as the Fire Service no longer maintain it. They are investigating.
And on a more upbeat note things will start coming together for the Village 90th birthday party of HM the Queen. Some advance news: There will be a flowering arrangement competition – all entries to the church – which will be judged by Amanda Steele and a cake baking competition to be judged by Judy Maddaford. The cakes for the competition can be small if you wish but must be iced as would a birthday cake. Meanwhile if you would like to donate cakes for the afternoon tea please advise either Trish 717227 or Jan 717623. Full details will be announced before the end of February where it is hoped there will be entertainment both morning and through lunch to tea time from the various village groups and perhaps some of our riders with their horses. So watch this space!
