After many years of appeals and collections for this very worthwhile event, it is with some regret that Sarah Gregory has to step down. If there is someone in the village who feels they can step into her shoes and continue with this valuable appeal please read the following from Trish Ruddle:
I would be really grateful if you could confirm that someone is willing to collect in Belton again this year, for the FR-IR Grand Tombola at the Rutland Show, on Sunday 5th June. The drop –off dates will be Tuesday 31st May, Weds 1st June and Thursday 2nd June or by arrangement.
It is imperative that we make this event a success, as not only do we raise much-needed funds but our presence helps raise awareness of this available service for Rutland and the Surrounding Community.
As from April 1st we are now funding 1½ non-medical advisers at Citizens Advice Rutland.
Since the project started, the FR-IR Advisers have been able to secure £600,000 for clients, either through benefit gain or grant funding.
Proof indeed that it is an essential service providing nonmedical advice to those suffering and living with long term illnesses.
They can be dropped off at Nelsons Butchers Uppingham or the Melton Mowbray Building Society or John Porters Dry Cleaning in Oakham in case we don’t get a collector.
If any of you have any ideas how we can improve the efficiency of this collection, please let me know.
The pressure is on to make this event a fundraising success and we are extremely grateful for time you give us in supporting “For Rutland-In Rutland”
With sincere thanks
Mrs Trish Ruddle
