At last the long awaited second batch of trees have arrived, and I planted them yesterday. There are just enough for everyone who asked for one, I’m afraid that there are no spares which shows the good spirit and generosity of this village. Details for dropping off payment will be on the front of the email sent out from the website.
The price is £12 per tree, with all the profits going to the village church.
Please also include your name, contact details (email is good) and a short message written exactly as you wish it to appear on the map.
Over the next few days I will number the trees and draw names from the hat to allocate them. I will then write to everyone to let them know where their tree is and draw up the map accordingly.
The trees are all three to four years old, so most of them are around three to four feet high, meaning that they just about poke out over the top of the tree guards. This growing season they should grow over the top and send some leaves out into the hedge line.
All the trees had good roots, and there is no reason why they should not all live, but nature being what it is some may fail. To lessen the chances of this a bottle of water during dry spells will be much appreciated by your tree I’m sure! If any trees should fail I will replace them the next winter.
Thank you all for supporting this, I am sure the generations to come will thank you for it.
