Belton News will as always be delivered free of charge to everyone in the village. A little smaller this time due to ink constraints – it’s astonishing how greedy the printer is!
With it you will receive the Little book of Big Scams – this is not limited to electronic scams so do take the opportunity to have a look. It’s quite a quick read.
For those of you who don’t like cold callers – there is a no cold callers sticker for your front door or window (just remove the black printed cover) and a UV pen (sufficient for half the village with, we hope more to come) for you to mark your property inside your homes. Simply put your post code and house number or, if a name, the first two letters of the name.
Many of you of course already use Smartwater. Interestingly we are advised they are about to introduce a charge of £100 a year per household to remain on their database. Fortunately neighbourhood watch villages have a dispensation. Belton is a neighbourbood watch village. In that, and as so often happens, where we lead others follow all Rutland villages are being urged to become Smartwater Villages just like us. The Parish Council supply of Smartwater is now exhausted, however you can get some should you wish from the police at Catmose.
If you wish to mark your mowers or hand tools with Cremark just call the coordinator, the same person for the last 13 years – on 717623. This is freely available on loan.
If you have any other queries or would like to get alarmed padlocks for your gates/oil tanks or timers for your lights/radios please contact Rutland Police who are temporarily at Catmose.
