As i sit here enjoying the indian summer my thoughts have turned to the damp and wind contitions that we encountered during the summer when playing petanque, the wind and rain at Greetham Golf Club, the interesting aroma encounted at The Wheatsheaf, which our water engineer diaganosed as too much flow through the sewage works and finally the flooded piste that we encounted at Colly Weston. Mind you it has happened before and will no doubt happen again.
The Braces found life in Div 2 very much to their liking, and with some new faces, threated to get promoted to Division 1, their promotion run was undone at the rugby club by the Forwards, who deep in the religation battle managed to pull out a 4-0 victory which kept them up.
The Braces also managed to win through to the final of the Turner Plate, but again fell at the final hurdle, being beaton by a team from Houghton, who play in Division One.
Our other team The Belton Bees had a bit of a difficult first season, they were on the wrong end of several close matches and finished at the bottom of the table, which was how the Braces did in their first season. We will be looking to improve a bit next year.
We are running a few friendlies over the next week or so, then we can put our balls away untill next April (Note to self – Oil them).
If you would like to know any more about playing please contact me or pop down to the pub on a tuesday evening.
