Not sure about you but these light mornings and evenings, especially when the sun is shining, is amazing…I love this time of year!!! So, I’ve dusted off the old road bike and taken it out for a spin 1st thing in the morning when it’s cool and no-one is around…nothing better than your own company and a bit of exercise when you know you’ve got a long drive and a busy day ahead. I wanted to share a short ride with you that takes around an hour, great for a morning or evening if your looking for a quick hit and gets the heart pumping a little. It also includes some amazing views:
Head out of the village to Hallaton via Allexton, In Hallaton take the left turning after the duck pond to Medbourne, head along here until you take the Blaston turning on the left, head through Blaston and up the hill to the T junction, take a left towards stockerston and then the next right to Great Eastern. Take in the view of Eyebrook as you roll down the hill, its stunning! Take your next left past eyebrook reservoir and follow this down the hill with eyebrook reservoir on your right, more stunning views and so peaceful. At your next T junction turn right in to Stockerston toward Uppingham, head through the village and the first turning on the left after Stockerston take toward Horninghold and then immediate right to Allexton, then you’ll see your way home.
This ride is amazing when the sun is shining but there is a little mist in the valleys, especially great views between Allexton and Hallaton and again as you drop over towards eyebrook reservoir…but you need to be early to catch it!
