To householders on the cycle event route
I am writing to you in advance of the cycling event taking place on Saturday 25th April starting from Rutland Water at Normanton between 0800 and 1000. There will be approximately 600 riders taking part. This event passed through Belton in Rutland on the route shown. The event is a long distance challenge ride, not a race, and covers distances of 103, 77 and 57 miles. The ride helps raise money for the Leics and Rutland charity Hope Against Cancer www.hfcr.org
There are no road closures in place for this event and the normal rules of the road apply. However, with this number of riders on the road in a short space of time there will be some congestion. It is recommended that other road users do not try to move against the flow of riders as gaps in which to progress will be few and far between. Please try to use an alternative route between 1100 and 1400
The riders are guided by red and white arrows to ensure a smooth and efficient passage through the village. These will appear on Thursday and be removed ether on Sunday or Monday.
If you have any questions about the event please contact me using the details at the top of the page.
