Local Crime Alert
Since the last Neighbourhood watch brief we have had one burglary dwelling reported in Greetham. Entry was gained through the patio doors to the conservatory and the rear door was forced. This incident occurred when the owner was away.
One burglary non dwelling reported in Uppingham. Unknown youths were seen fleeing from a local barn. This incident occurred late one evening over the weekend.
One theft of property reported from a garden in Oakham. Item was taken on a weekday during the morning when the owner was out.
Summer months (June to September) have been highlighted as the time of year last year where burglary had risen on the previous year. Reasons for the increase are believed to be vulnerable premises due to occupants going on holiday and insecure premises (windows / doors left open) due to higher temperatures. In attempt to prevent further increase in burglary dwelling offences, we have created a profile to advise and educate the public throughout the summer months. We will also carry out monitoring of burglary offences ensuring directed patrols and target hardening is carried out in vulnerable areas.
